Santoña - Cantabria

Some days ago, we spent the day in Santoña, a beautiful coastal town of the region of Cantabria.

You can visit the Town Hall's official webpage (only in Spanish) and the tourism webpage. According to its tourism webpage (strongly recommendable and translated into English and French), Santoña is one of the oldest and most genuine Fishing Towns in Cantabria.

Hace unos días estuvimos pasando el día en Santoña, una preciosa villa marinera de Cantabria.
Podéis visitar la web oficial del Ayuntamiento y la web de Turismo. Según esta última, Santoña es una de las más antiguas y genuinas villas marineras de Cantabria.

The day wasn’t exactly sunny, but the light was wonderful. We were strolling along the promenade. The view of the bay is very beautiful.

El día no salió soleado, pero la luz era maravillosa. Caminamos por el paseo marítimo, disfrutando de la preciosa bahía.

We had lunch at the restaurant El restaurante de Pilar (Puerto de Santoña, Mirador de las Marismas). The place is really nice, full of light. The food was delicious, and the price was suitable. We started with squid tails, tender and tasty. Then the consort had tuna casserole, and I tasted a very good grilled jargo (bream). For dessert, we had cheese cake and chocolate truffles in a white chocolate soup with walnuts. The desserts were to die for!!! I am still licking my lips.

Comimos en El restaurante de Pilar (Puerto de Santoña, Mirador de las Marismas). Es un sitio muy agradable, lleno de luz. La comida estaba riquísima, y el precio era adecuado. Comenzamos con una rabas de gibión, tiernas y sabrosas. A continuación, el consorte tomó cacerola de bonito, y yo saboreé un jargo estupendo a la brasa.De postre tomamos tarta de queso y trufas de chocolate en una sopa de chocolate blanco con nueces. ¡Los postres estaban de muerte! Aún me estoy relamiendo.

Then, we visited the nice squares of the town: Plaza de la Constitución and Plaza de San Antonio. These places are full of bars, coffees, restaurants and people. Always lively!

I am a real fashion lover. I don’t consider myself a fashion addict because I pay a lot of attention to my expenses, but I adore visiting fashion web pages and shops. Santoña, despite its small size, is a paradise for shopping. I particularly recommend a couple of shops: Cokola (Cervantes, 21) and Pink&Co (Santander, 16).

To sum up, a lovely Saturday and a really recommended visit.



Para bajar la comida, dimos un paseo por las plazas del pueblo: Plaza de la Constitución y Plaza de San Antonio. Tanto las plazas como sus calles adyacentes están llenas de bares, cafés, restaurantes y gente. Una de las cosas que más me gusta de Santoña es que siempre hay muchísima animación.

Por otro lado, me encanta la ropa, y a pesar de su pequeño tamaño, Santoña es estupenda para comprar.  Recomiendo especialmente un par de tiendas: Cokola (Cervantes, 21) y Pink&Co (Santander, 16).
